I've tried it on both.

- Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configured the settings on the bluetooth devices but for those who have Windows 7, here are the things you should do:

- Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer Icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.

- You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'

- Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.

- Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.

- Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".

- Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list if it asked you to select and then in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose 'Microsoft Corporation', not only Microsoft.

- From the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. Select one or the latest.

- Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.

Now, after manually updating the driver for your bluetooth device, in 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should display one more item which will say 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.

There are few more things that you want to pay attention to. If you have already added the device in your 'bluetooth device list' that didn't work, then remove the device and add it again. After you add it, you might need to restart the computer if it gave you a connection problem error message.

uif to iso

this is a very nice utility to use to convert uif2iso.zip

How to Manage CD Images in Linux

One of the most popular and commonly encountered types of disk images is a CD/DVD image. In simple terms, a CD/DVD-image is an exact digital replica of a CD/DVD, whereby all of the data is stored in one file to completely preserve the data structure and integrity of the CD/DVD. CD/DVD images are essential for retaining copy-protection data and multi-track data/audio.

Images of CD-ROMs are usually .ISO files, referring to the ISO 9660 file system commonly used on such disks. The .ISO format is the most common format for software disk images. Other common disk image formats include: .BIN/.CUE, .IMG, .MDF/.MDS[2], .DAA, .UIF, and .CCD/.IMG/.SUB[5].

.ISO Files

Creating an .iso file is the easiest way to create an image from a CD and mount it into the linux filesystem. Just insert the CD into your CD-drive and copy all data from the device file to any file:

# dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/path/to/the/image.iso

To mount it, you have to ensure that the loopback device driver (in kernel "make menuconfig" "Device Drivers -> Block devices -> Loopback device support") is enabled as module or built-in, what should be the case in all standard kernels.

Now just enter this command as root to mount your .iso file:

# mount -o loop -t iso9660 /path/to/the/image.iso /path/to/mountpoint

The only advantage of creating an .iso file instead of copying the data manually from the mounted CD is that the bootable block of the CD is also copied to the image. So the .iso format is great for purposes like holding a collection of distribution CDs. But e.g. PlayStation CDs consist normally of more than one track, so an .iso image wouldn't work here.

Burning an .iso file works with the following command:

# cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 /path/to/the/image.iso

.BIN / .CUE / .TOC Files

The advantage of .bin/.cue image files is that it is a "RAW" copy of the CD. What this means is that every bit (including header and error correction) is copied to the image file. Generation of such a RAW CD copy can easily be done with cdrdao:

# cdrdao read-cd --read-raw --datafile /path/to/image.bin --device ATAPI:0,1,0 --driver generic-mmc-raw /path/to/image.toc

IDE users should use --device ATAPI:0,0,0 (for the first drive, ATAPI:0,1,0 for the second), SCSI users only need to give out the device number (--device 0,3,0). It is also possible to point directly to the device path: --device /dev/cdroms/cdrom1.

Some programs need exactly this information, but formatted in a .cue file. The program bin2iso can be used to get such a .cue file from the image.

# bin2iso /path/to/image.cue -c /path/to/image.bin

The disadvantage of the .bin/.cue format is that it can't be mounted onto the linux filesystem with standard kernels. You need the kernelmodule and program of the cdemu project.

Burning a CD of a .bin file works this way:

# cdrdao write --device ATAPI:0,1,0 /path/to/image.toc
<img width='1' height='1' I had to use a couple of hours doing so, but at the end, it was worth it. So here is the fast and clean way of installing Microsoft Reader on Linux, what you need is:

Have a Linux installation (obviously) – I’m on fedora but this should work with ubuntu or other flavors too (guessing,if u find problem do comment).

The following software installed: wine, msttcorefonts, cabextract – You can install it with the usual:

sudo yum -y install wine msttcorefonts cabextract

IE for Linux – this is a pre-requisite of Microsoft Reader on Wine.

Install ie4linux using the instructions here. Ignore the wine version warning.

or just do this

wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
tar zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
cd ies4linux-*
./ies4linux
You may have to run the script multiple times if it crashes, but you’ll get ie6 installed eventually.so dont loose heart and keep trying.

You might need mfc42.cab – in which case, just follow the link on the page, and copy the cab to the folder used by ies4linux, which was/home/vivek/.ies4linux/downloads

Download the MSReaderSetup.exe file from the Microsoft site using your regular browser and save it somewhere.

Run the installer .exe via double-clicking, or right clicking, or via command-line

The reader should install. The first time, try running it via command-line after going to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Reader and typing ./msreader.exe

If you get an msvcirt.dll error, download the dll from here and extract the dll to your ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 folder.

in my case for wine 1.1.32 it worked by extracting msvcirt.dll to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Reader folder

so,which ever suits you try that though i feel second is appropriate

Now running the .exe again should work, and you should also be able to run it after searching for it by ALT+F2.

At this point, you should be able to open a .lit file by double-clicking it.Voila!! we are done :)

enjoy ebook experiance !!!!!

If you encouter any issues or had to follow a different path, do share in the comments to help out others.

GPS- grand problem solver ;)

if u thought this post is going to be about "NOT GPS"(global positioning system),sorry gave a wrong idea :) but yes infact gps is a grand problem solver currently integrating a gps reciever with linux ,found out just how much we can integrate it into our mainstream lives we see around us many developments be it a simple guiding instrument for our travel or be it as other way round to track an object on travel.
well gps is so,the limitation is only our imagination.now coming to meat of it y m i writing it in first place well in my case for no obvious reason just wanted so i did n took part in endeavor to share knowledge.
currently have written a script which can fetch data from gps device in NEMA standards collect coordinates, velocity, motion etc etc passing onto another machine n finally making a cgi to collect map from google to project the point n warious info we collected earlier.
sounds boring like what is this guy trying to do.just trying to collect info about an object, but hey my idea was to tell about what i m doing not much it is but what i just thought(time while thinking to write this post) :) was that we are currently tracking objects how about controlling them thinking of a scenario when a person wants to do his own study of topology for a feature and height map just over a small region unlike sattelites doing it why not make out own topology mapper just a trickle thought and its amazing what all we can do with this technology which has been in existence for over decades.gps as the title suggests can be a real problem solver whereever kinematics comes in(not that am enlisting just kinematics there are so many areas it can be employed).
<img width='1'
